The Board wishes to thank all members who have volunteered their ideas, suggestions, time & materials! With member volunteer cooperation, we again have been able to keep our association dues in line, and are able to continue improving and enjoying our thriving community!

Annual Meeting Minutes of 6-23-18 were announced.

  • Terry Denner asked Chip Flory to proceed with reading of last year’s minutes. Terry also asked if any members present insisted the minutes be read aloud. There were no requests or questions regarding minutes by members present, so therefore a motion was made to waive reading of minutes aloud. Chip Flory asked for a motion to waive the reading of minutes. Bob Gilkes made motion, a second was made.  All approved. Motion Passed.

Treasurer’s Annual Report:

  • Cash Flow and Balance Sheet presented by Terry Denner.

      • Anyone who would like to see the specific financials is always free to ask for the details from Terry Denner or Treasurer.
  • Member Leo Gansen raised a question from the floor asking about the common ground area in regard to the mowing fee. Board explained the area being mowed is roughly 4 acres, including back road, around pond, pavilion area, Association lots, Esmann rock area, and flower garden areas. Mr. Gansen agreed that fee was more in line with the amount of area being mowed.
  • Member Donna Gilkes commented she thinks the lawn mowing is much better than it has been in previous years.
  • Member Mark Moser asked if the Board or lawn service would be addressing the explosion of Poision Ivy in pond area. Terry Denner replied that we (Assoc) will be spraying to try and keep it in check.

    • IF you are interested in having a driveway done or bigger areas repaired on the road due to lot construction etc. Please Contact a Board member to have your name and contact info placed on a list.
    • IF we can gather enough names to make it worthwhile for the company to come to the island we can move forward. IF NOT, then patching will be our responsibility, if common road the Association will cold patch, or homeowner can cold patch.

Flood Update 4-28-19

Well, we’ve set a record. Not one we are excited about. Yesterday, we
officially set the 4th highest crest since 1969–19.95ft. The previous historic crest was 19.84 ft on 04/22/1969. The level is slowly lowering, but of course, any further rain and/or snow may affect the rate of the drop.

Again, unless you absolutely need to get on/off island, the water is still over the island road until it drops below 19ft. The shoulders will be soft or washed away. Road embargo is still in place, especially in lieu of water over most of Timber Lane Rd and parts of the north end of island. Trying to keep sightseeing to a minimum. Fingers crossed for calmer days ahead! (Photos provided by Eulbergs, Koopmans)

FLOOD UPDATE! 4-19-19

Hi everyone! Well, it appears we are on our way to a second, even higher crest next week. The recent rains coupled with northern snow melt is headed our way. Please keep checking the forecasts and river gauges as they are changing and updating several times a day! As of this last check it is still holding at 20.4 ft by Thursday into Friday! Count on the Island Road closing again next week as it surpasses the 19 ft. mark.
https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=arx&gage=gtti4

Alliant:”Power will remain on” 4-2-19

Board President Terry Denner spoke to Alliant Energy this morning. They will NOT shut the power off on Esmann unless water level would reach above 23 ft. Again, the crest on Thursday is forecast at 19.4 ft.

REMINDER–Standard flooding safety rules from Alliant. Hoping we don’t get quite that inundated, however, good common sense info even after waters recede. Please– Be safe…Not sorry.

-Unplug electric appliances if they are expected to be under water.
-Shut off the valves to gas appliances if they are expected to be under water.
-Don’t walk through a flooded home or building until gas and electric service are disconnected. Even a small amount of water on the floor of your basement can put you at risk for electrocution.
-Never handle electric appliances or any other electric equipment, such as a circuit breaker, with wet hands or while standing on a wet surface.
-Make sure generators used for water removal are outside and vented properly. Keep their power cords out of water.
-Avoid walking in flooded backyards if water is touching utility equipment like ground-mounted transformers.
-Standing water can snuff out pilot lights on hot water heaters and furnaces. If this occurs, natural gas may collect in your home, creating the risk of an explosion.
