ESMANN ISLAND ASSOCIATION MINUTES 5-18-2024

Meeting called to order at 8:02 AM by Board VP Tim Ahlers Present were Board members: Linda Lampe, Kevin Thie, Bret Flickinger, Kate Hoffman. Absent were Gail Scheer and Josh Geistkemper.

Reading of Minutes from last meeting were waived and approved as published. Tim A motioned and Linda L seconded, All in favor.

Treasurers report approved and bills authorized for payment. Motion by Linda, 2nd by Tim.

Building Committee & Permits: Building committee reported one building permit for Farl and Beth Greene.

Also reported resignation of Chris Miller and Mike Burke from Building Committee. One additional member (minimum) is needed, 2 would be even better. Volunteers will be solicited at annual meeting. If you are interested, please contact a board member!

Property Changes Reported: Dale McKinney 382 RIVER VIEW RD to Wayne and Shelley Ahern

**Please note boats & trailers will need to be removed from Association shed prior to Annual Meeting.

OLD BUSINESS:

Board approved order of 3 AED stations for installation on island. Tim will order and coordinate installation.

Key pads were installed on office and shed. Codes will be distributed on as needed basis and can be changed at the discretion of the board.

Discussion of gate at pond entrance. Kate made a motion to approve of gate installation at cost of approximately $300-$350. Second by Linda. All approved. Details of keys, gate lock time/day guidelines, etc to be determined.

After discussion of flags, Kate made motion to OK annual (1st regular meeting) assessment of flag and make purchases as necessary for US and state flags. Ron Reisner may have a flag to donate (depending on size requirements) Teri Denner will purchase.

No update on Alliant project or purchase of boat dock.

Rules on golf cart ages, etc to be distributed with annual mailing. AGAIN, respect your neighbors and teach your kids to do the same!

NEW BUSINESS

Annual meeting time change to be on the ballot for approval.

Two board positions are open, Kevin Thie and Gail Scheer. Gail will run for another term. We have no other nominees to date. If none are received we will take nominations from the floor. Please contact Cindy for nomination papers (319-560-7805)

Building maintenance…shrubs by door were removed motion by Linda and seconded to replace with modest plantings and rock from the island stockpile. Looking into furnace issue, bathroom, and further discussion of entrance door.

Teri Denner asked for permission to dig a hole and burn tree debris and bury. She also requested that we have a cleanup day for pond area. Tim proposed date of June 1 from 8-11. Linda Seconded, all in favor.

Becky Shaffer addressed the board for OK to have representatives from the Community Resource Center in Guttenberg to have a table set up at island entrance for purposes of distributing information on services provided by the Center. This will be the Friday of Memorial Day weekend.

Linda made motion to adjourn at 9:10 AM, seconded by Kate and motion carried.
