Roads are soft

It’s that time of year again. Due to frost going out we are closing roads to heavy equipment, large trucks etc. to protect the roads. we will post when it is OK to allow these once soil stabilizes.

Garbage dumpster will be in same location at south end of island as in prior years. There will be no garbage pick up at individual residences.

Thanks for your help in maintaining our roads.

Lets  hope for a nice spring

Storm Damage

This week’s storm while it brought much need rain also took down a lot of trees and branches on the island.

As far as we know burn ban is still in effect. We anticipate access  to a chipper/shredder next weekend ( could not get it this weekend).

Those wanting to take advantage of this should place their branches on their lot by road ( please not in road).

There will be a charge as it will cost us $75.00/hour to rent it. We will base it on time it takes.  The chipper will take branches up to about

 5 inches in diameter.

Let us know if this is something you wish to take advantage of.

Volunteers to help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Emerald Ash borer and Gypsy moths

Dave Wagner received this email recently

Dear Mr. Wagner,

My name is John Gosa and I work for the Emerald Ash Borer Program in Iowa.  Last weekend I was out visiting campgrounds and spreading the word about Emerald Ash Borer(EAB) and Gypsy Moth(GM) up in Clayton County.  I was also checking for firewood they may have come from EAB or GM quarantine areas.  I decided to drive around Esmann Island and I noticed that there were quite a few out of state visitors.  Do you think that the residents are aware of the EAB and GM quarantines in the area?  I would like to offer my assistance if you have any concerns.  I am attaching a couple of maps showing the quarantine areas for both EAB and GM.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you might have.

Thank you for your time,

John Gosa
