ESMANN ISLAND OWNER’S ASSOCIATION
BOARD MEETING
08-21-10
Board Members Present: Dave Wagner called the regular meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. with Jim McGuire, Barb Engle, Mike Shaffer, Don Niosi, Ken Brandel and Carol Buhman in attendance, Dottie Reimer, secretary. Donna Gilkes, treasurer
Members Present: Larry Brown, Ed Schneider, Mert Duffy, Leo Hanson, Bob Gilkes, Wayne Jensen, Lorraine Huber, Red Neal, Doug Hintzman
Minutes: Reviewed minutes from last meeting, Motion to approve 1st Engle, 2nd by Buhman, motion approved.
Treasures Report: Motion to approve treasurer’s report 1st by McGuire, 2nd by Brandel, motion approved.
Bills: Current bills presented and reviewed. Motion to approve 1st by Buhman, 2nd by McGuire, motion approved. Received bill for common road shared with Abel Island, will send half billing to them to be paid.
Building Permits: Three (3) building permits presented, Andy Blaylock, lot 47; Richard Eulberg lot 11; Dale Hoffman, lot 151, motion to approve 1st by Shaffer, 2nd by Buhman. Association board was approached by Leo Hanson requesting a variance for a shed she and husband are replacing. Mrs. Hanson read letter from neighbor giving approval. Discussion held and motion made 1st by Niosi, 2nd by Shaffer to grant variance, motion carried.
Effective this date, before any future buildings/structures are started, the building committee must be notified.
Please NOTE: The building committee consists of Bob Gilkes, chairman, Wayne Jensen and Darwin Buhman, please notify any of them if you have any building requests.
Property Ownership Changes: None at this time
Road Report:
- Brandel reported all road repairs have been made, trimmed all trees hanging over road on most roads, and will continue until all roads are complete.
- Board has received complaint of fish waste being left on common ground, letters will be sent to those who are suspected of dumping fish remains. Please be considerate of your neighbors and discard of your fish remains in the proper way.
- Please refrain from mowing grass into the road.
Old Business: There is no Old Business
New Business:
- Board member directory with names, addresses, e-mail addresses and phone numbers will be placed on the Esmann Island website: www.esmannisland.com
- We are looking into, how to secure access, before posting the master listing of all Esmann island members on the web-site.
- A letter was received from Janet Ott, giving an update on what is being required by the DNR for flood plain permits and changes that will be coming in the future. After discussion it was agreed that all members of the association receive a copy of this letter along with a form letter which can be copied and sent to all federal, state and local representatives. A list of these names will be sent as well. A copy of this letter will also be shared with Abel Island and Wille’s Resort land owners.
