BOARD MEETING
07-17-10
Board Members Present: Dave Wagner called the regular meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. with Jim McGuire, Barb Engle, Mike Shaffer, Don Niosi, Ken Brandel and Carol Buhman in attendance, Dottie Reimer, secretary. Donna Gilkes, treasurer
Members Present: Bob Gilkes, Ken Schmerbach, Wayne Jensen, Dale and Karen Simmons
Minutes: Reviewed minutes from last meeting, Motion to approve 1st Shaffer, 2nd by Buhman, motion approved.
Treasures Report:
- Dave passed out detailed report showing projected expenses for the coming year. Suggestion made to make an additional $10,000.00 on loan note to pay balance down. Motion by McGuire, 2nd by Brandel to pay down loan with the additional funds, motion approved.
- Board reviewed treasurer’s report and revenues & expenses as of July 13, 2010. Motion to approve treasure’s report 1st by McGuire, 2nd by Brandel, motion approved.
- Friendly reminders will be sent to those members who have not paid their association dues.
Bills: Current bills presented and reviewed. Motion to approve 1st by Buhman, 2nd by McGuire, motion approved.
Building Permits: One (1) building permits presented, Ken Schmerbach, lots 198; 199.
Property Ownership Changes: Smuck to Hambling, Lot 49
Road Report:
- The potholes in the roads will be taken care of; the expense of repairs of holes on roads shared by Abel Island will be shared between both Island associations.
Old Business:
- Dave received several bids for repairs to the office building and the storage building roofs. Discussion held on repairs needed and a motion to repair half of the office building roof and patch the storage building roof was made, 1st by Niosi, 2nd by Engel, motion approved.
- An up-to date lien on property with delinquent association dues has been re-filed with Clayton County.
New Business:
- Guttenberg Hospital has approached the association for a monetary donation to the expansion of the hospital. Discussion held which included association members present. Board agreed to donate $250.00 a year for a three year pledge.
- There have been several complaints of a 4 wheeler racing though the streets on Esmann Island. Several attempts to stop this individual have resulted in insults, attitude and rude behavior. The board agreed to send a letter to the homeowner where the 4 wheeler has been seen parked. If nothing is done to stop this, the Sheriff’s department will be notified.
- Suggestion made for additional mowing around north side of sand pit where people fish. Dave will notify mowing company.
- REMINDER: Lot numbers should be placed on all golf carts.
Please NOTE: The building committee consists of Wayne Jensen, Darwin Buhman and Bob Gilkes, please notify either one of them if you have any building requests.
The monthly association meetings have been changed to 8:30 am, please make note of this change and as always, you are welcome to our meetings.
Next meeting scheduled for August 21st, 2010 at 8:30 am.
