BOARD MEETING
08-20-11
Board Members Present: Dave Wagner called the regular meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. with Jim McGuire, Ken Brandel, Don Niosi, and Terry Lubbers in attendance, Dottie Reimer, secretary. Donna Gilkes, treasurer
Members Present: Bob Gilkes
Minutes: Reviewed minutes from July 23rd, 2011 meeting, Motion to approve 1st McGuire; 2nd by Lubbers, motion approved.
Treasures Report:
- All accounts are paid except one (1). If not paid by next meeting, lien will be placed on property.
- Dave reported road loan was completely paid off as of August 1, 2011.
Motion to approve treasurer’s report, 1st by Niosi, 2nd by Brandel, motion approved.
Bills: Current bills presented and reviewed. Motion to approve for payment, 1st by McGuire, 2nd by Niosi, motion approved.
Building Permits: PLEASE NOTE: If you are planning any building construction, there are new guidelines which need to be followed. Please contact Janet Ott at 563-245-2451 or the DNR Tech Department at 866-849-0321 prior to submitting permits to the board for approval.
Property Ownership Changes: None
Road Report:
- Property owners are encouraged to trim trees which are overhanging in the streets around their properties.
- It is noted the railroad crossing at the entrance to the Island is in need of repair. Ken Brandel will notify rail road and request this to be done.
- Suggestion made for letters to be sent to Bard Concrete and Friedlein Excavating to ask drivers to respect speed limits on Esmann Island roads. Board approved, secretary will send letters.
Old Business:
- The roads on Esmann Island will now be patrolled by the Clayton County Sheriff’s department per the Chief Deputy. Patrolling will begin in a few weeks.
- All property owners and guests are asked to abide by speed limits signs.
New Business:
- The board is experimenting with a speed control radar device to clock how fast drivers are going on Esmann Island roads.
- Fall Clean-Up is scheduled for Saturday, September 10, 2011. A notice will be posted on the bulletin board and the office door as to what is permitted.
Next meeting set for Saturday, September 17th at 8:30 a.m.
