BOARD MEETING
05-21-2011
Board Members Present: Dave Wagner called the regular meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. with Jim McGuire, Barb Engle, Mike Shaffer, Don Niosi, and Ken Brandel in attendance, Dottie Reimer, secretary. Donna Gilkes, treasurer
Members Present: Ken Schmerbach; Ed Schneider, Bob Gilkes
Minutes: Reviewed minutes from April 23, 2011 meeting, Motion to approve 1st Engle; 2nd by McGuire, motion approved.
Treasures Report: Motion to approve treasurer’s reports, 1st by McGuire, 2nd by Niosi, motion approved.
Bills: Current bills presented and reviewed. Motion to approve for payment, 1st by Schaffer, 2nd by Engle, motion approved.
Building Permits: Four (4) building permits presented:
Robert Beyer, Lot 42; Dennis Winders Lots 248, 250; Dale Grundmeyer Lot 431; Sam Helling Lot 170.
Property Ownership Changes: No ownership changes submitted
Road Report:
- Ken Brandel reported the roads have a few places which are damaged and will fix these soon.
- Thank you to Tom Nagel for getting the North boat dock ready this year.
Old Business:
- Garbage pickup will resume on Monday, May 23, 2011. The items left by the dumpster, during the high water, which Hawkeye Sanitation did not take, will be brought to Dubuque by Bob Gilkes. The board has agreed to reimburse Bob for his mileage.
- There will be NO SPRING CLEAN-UP this year. A Fall Clean-up will be scheduled in the fall.
- REMINDER: No one can build a storage building that does not live on the island. In our 1993 Declarations of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions were set up to allow for residential use of lots ONLY.
- The board has received several complaints regarding pets being allowed to roam without a leash. A Reminder: Please be conscience of your pets’ whereabouts, and pick up after them. This will be brought up at the annual meeting.
- Have complaints of skunks getting under some vacant properties on the Island. Letters have been sent to owners to remedy this issue. If not remedied, the board will hire an outside contractor and charge owner for all costs.
New Business:
- There are 2 vacancy board seats available this year. Don Niosi will seek re-election. If anyone would like to run for the board, or nominate someone, please fill out a nomination form and return by June 4th, 2011.
- Annual Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, June 25th at 10:00 a.m.
- If meeting agenda’s have anything out of the ordinary, these will be posted on the website and on the association’s bulletin board, prior to the next board meeting.
- Boat trailer storage will be available after the annual meeting June 25th.
- We have Red Cross clean-up buckets left and Bob Gilkes will contact the Red Cross to return.
Next meeting set for Saturday, June 25th after the annual members meeting.
